August 12-21, 2020 will be a “Soft Start” to the school year. This time will be used to:
1) Teach students appropriate procedures and protocols that will keep them safe during the pandemic.
2) Issue Chromebooks and provide orientation and direct instruction on how to access and effectively utilize the virtual classroom.
Teachers will communicate with their students regarding the schedule for full virtual class meetings and small group instruction, as well as, administer diagnostic exams. This investment of time on the front end will help to ensure a better start to the school year, regardless of the student is full virtual or attending school in our buildings. This “soft start” plan will allow students to have time with their teachers to adjust to the new procedures and programs prior to the hard start to school on August 24th.
Our goal is to have as many students attending our schools as possible. However, due to bus capacity constraints (50% capacity in phase 2) resulting from COVID-19, it is impossible to transport all of our students with our existing bus fleet size. Please complete this survey to provide us with valuable information that will assist us as we continue to review and revise our plan.
*If you have discussed the Full Virtual Learning Model with your school admin and your student will be learning from home beginning in August, please DO NOT fill out this form.
*Siblings attending the SAME SCHOOL can be entered one form. Please complete a new form for each sibling attending a different school.
Pledging to put the safety of their people first, the Tangipahoa Parish School System on Tuesday announced plans to reopen classrooms for both in-person and online instruction starting August 12.
