Anna Pfeil

Mrs. Anna, as she is called  by most who know her, developed her love for theater at a young age creating character voices and personalities for her Barbie and Troll dolls! She and her friends role played and made up stories and games throughout her childhood. From 1976-1982 she worked at the Beverly Dinner Playhouse in the box office and backstage. She assisted the set designer, lighting designer and costume designer in their roles. In 1981 she married the lighting designer and continued to assist him on shows at the Beverly and Tulane University where she also worked as a costume designer, stitcher and on deck wardrobe manager. Mrs. Anna took a little time off to create a family and soon had them all involved in theater! After moving to Hammond in 1995, she worked with SLU's Opera/Music Department, Department of Dance, Izzy Moving Dance, Fellom Ballet, Lemoine Academy of Dance and the former Columbia Players. She continued to work in New Orleans and Jefferson parishes designing and stitching costumes as well as working on a couple of movies. Her costume and prop designs can been seen annually in the Hammond Ballet Company's production of The Nutcracker.
In 2007, the H. Rocker Electric Family Foundation asked Mrs. Anna to help form The Octavians, a community theater company for all ages. She successfully wrote, directed, costumed and staged over 30 live shows with hundreds of local adult and children performers until 2017.
Mrs. Anna accepted a position with TPSS in 2010 as a teacher of students who are Talented in Theater. In this position she is able to share her years of knowledge in performance, costume, prop, lighting, and set design and construction, to the students in the program. It is always a joy to watch them create characters, and develop voices and body movements. Teaching design and technical elements allows the students to experience the many aspects of live performance and movies other than acting, and get a little taste of what is involved in these jobs.  Each school year the students perform in classrooms, at festivals and for the public.
Mrs. Anna lives in Hammond with her husband, Pete. They have four children and five grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, eating and quiet times at home.
