Conferences available by AppointmentIn keeping with our vision statement, the Tangipahoa Parish School System continues to develop safe and innovative environments for student learning. Although concerns over the Coronavirus (COVID-19) have halted classroom instruction, our district remains committed to offering educational opportunities for our students until they are able to return to their campuses. Sadly, the closure of our school campuses disrupts routine for our students, as well as their families. With this in mind, we offer the following information to help families adjust to schedule changes until classes resume. Click HERE for more information.Internet Access for Families and Students

In order to get updated information in a timely manner, please stay connected to our Tangischools Website, the TPSS Facebook Page and register to receive our bi-monthly newsletter. If parents and families have questions, they should reach out to their child's teacher or principal. They may also send questions to our district inbox firstname.lastname@example.org
TPSS employees need to check their district's email address, our TPSS website, and TPSS FaceBook page to remain connected as we move through the next few weeks.
Update: Sunday, March 15, 2020
There will be no grades or attendance taken during the next four weeks. The instructional materials we provide are OPTIONAL for students. These resources are only to provide the opportunity for our students to stay connected to classroom learning materials, because the students will take the statewide test starting on April 27. Teachers will be reaching out to parents and students to encourage them to work on OPTIONAL instruction if they have access to these materials at home. Students enrolled in SLU and NTCC dual enrollment courses MUST complete online assignments and monitor email during this time for additional course information.
For students who do not have internet access at home, there is an opportunity to seek free or reduced-cost internet access for families and students through the "Keep Americans Connected" pledge provided by many of our broadband carriers. This information is already on our website.
There will be no grades or attendance taken during these next four weeks. The instruction materials we provide are strictly OPTIONAL for students; however, at this time, students are still scheduled to take statewide assessment tests starting April 27. The instructional material our teachers provide will help them stay connected and better prepare for the statewide testing.
Things you need to know:
Will spring break change?
We plan at this time to keep our Easter holiday as it is starting on Good Friday, April 10 with students returning to school on Monday, April 20.
How will students make up missed time?
The required 63,720 instructional minute requirement per year shall be suspended, which means the missed days will not have to be extended into the month of June. Therefore we do not anticipate any extension of the school year at this time.
Are school events cancelled?
The Louisiana High School Athletic Association has suspended all sporting events at this time. We will not have practices or work-outs on campus during this closure.
Will LEAP and ACT testing be rescheduled?
The U.S. Department of Education has NOT announced any statewide waivers of assessment requirements, therefore, we will take state testing.
- Spring 2020 assessment windows for grades 3-8 LEAP 2025 will begin no earlier than April 27.
- LEAP 2025 Humanities will begin no earlier than May 4.
- Students that were scheduled to take the ACT should check with the school for information
Will meals be provided?
Per the Governor’s proclamation, we will be providing “grab and go” meals at specific sites starting Wednesday, March 18. We will formalize those plans and release that information early this week.
