My name is Phebe Cunningham.  I am a second grade teacher and I am so excited to be a part of the Tucker family.  I have been teaching for 15 years and I love being in the classroom. I have two children and I am a graduate of NSU in Thibodaux, Louisiana.  Last year was an amazing and rewarding one.  I look forward to teaching my new students as we embark together on a journey of learning through creativity and fun.   I am a published author and my students will create a collaborative literacy book of their own. I know that my students are going to work hard and be the best that they can be.  Have a wonderful year to all staff, teachers, and students.

Reading and Writing are very important skills that your child and I will work closely together to enhance. Students will read independently and with partners.  Weekly passages will go home for parents to assess their child's reading fluency and number of words read.  Reading tests mirror the skills taught for the week.  I encourage you to read to your child and have your child read to you EVERY DAY.  Please review all spelling words, vocabulary words, high frequency words, and passages for  homework.

Please check your child's binder EVERY DAY for important notes that are sent home.  Please sign and return any forms ASAP to the teacher.  Send doctor notes and written excuses the day after your child is absent. Binders should be returned to class EVERY DAY.

Classwork will stay at home and will be placed in your child's folder. Test folders will go home on Wednesdays.  Sign the folder only on the highlighted line and return the test folder the next day to school.  Please review missed test items with your child and rework Math problems.

Our class CODE OF CONDUCT is as follows:

    white - Fantastic Behavior

    green - Warning

yellow - 5 min loss of recess

red - 10 min loss of recess

    blue - referral to principal

Students can earn golden tickets for GOLDEN BEHAVIOR.  The tickets are redeemed for classroom treats and rewards. Initial the conduct sheet in your child's binder EVERY DAY! Keep the conduct sheet in your child's binder.
