2027-2028 Academic Calendar Options

Over the past several weeks, we have actively sought input from teachers, students, families, and staff through advisory boards, as well as interviews with individuals who have implemented a balanced calendar option. Our goal throughout this process has been to gather a broad range of perspectives and ensure that the decision-making process is both transparent and thorough.

After several months of collaboration with the stakeholders of the school system, the Administration believes that a "modified" traditional calendar aligns with our goals of creating an Academic Intervention/Enrichment period during the school year to prevent students from failing the year, while also creating a Fall Break to reduce fatigue and burnout of students and staff. This is accomplished with only minor adjustments to the historical academic calendar, with school beginning in August and ending before Memorial Day. If fall emergency days are not used, the last day of the semester will be December 15th. If spring emergency days are not used, the last day of school will be May 22nd, and the teachers' PD will be the 23rd and 24th.

Both the modified calendar and the traditional calendar contain 172 instructional days and 9 professional development days for staff. Instructional days fall between August and May on both calendar options.
