The Sales Tax Division of the Tangipahoa Parish School System serves as the single sales tax collector for all political subdivisions which levy a sales and use tax in the parish, including the School Board, Parish Council, Municipalities, Fire Protection District, and Educational Facilities Improvement District.


Payments of Sales and Use Tax can be made by one of the following methods:
1. Online at www.salestaxonline.com ** or www.parishe-file.revenue.louisiana.gov

2. Download and print a sales tax return from www.tangischools.org   Mail payment to Tangipahoa Parish Sales and Use Tax Division, P.O. Box 159, Amite, LA 70422. For overnight delivery, physical address is 106 N. Myrtle St., Amite, LA 70422.

3. Pay in person at the Sales and Use Tax office, 106 N. Myrtle St., Amite, LA 70422. In person payments must be in the form of cash (exact amounts only), check or money order. Credit and debit cards are not accepted.


Hours of Operation:

Normal Hours:  Monday – Friday  8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Summer Hours:  Monday – Thursday  7:00 am – 4:30 pm 


Holidays:

Martin Luther King Day, Mardi Gras (2 days), Easter (3 days), Independence Day, Labor Day, Tangipahoa Parish Fair Day, Thanksgiving (2 days), Christmas/New Year’s (2 weeks)

All locations in Tangipahoa Parish are subject to 3.5% parish tax. 

This rate consists of 2% School Board tax, 1% Parish Council tax and .5% Educational Facilities Improvement District Tax (EFID).

Locations within city limits or taxing jurisdictions are subject to additional tax rates as follows:

*Effective July 1, 2021, sales tax rates increase .5% in all taxing jurisdictions. 
The .5% EFID tax DOES NOT apply to sales of food for home consumption or prescription drugs
