Family Resources
What is SEL?
•Definition: Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.
•TPSS Mission: TPSS staff and students will advance their educational excellence by establishing trusting relationships, authentic school-family-community partnerships and engaging in rigorous and meaningful curriculum and instruction.
•TPSS Vision: TPSS will address various forms of inequity, embrace the SEL components of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making and empower students and staff to create thriving schools.
TPSS Strategic Plan
Priority # 2 Build a positive school culture that supports student wellbeing.
Surveys

We Value Your Voice
Tangipahoa Parish School System students will have the opportunity to participate in online surveys to allow us insight into each student's opinions about the school he or she attends and the school's approaches to learning. These online questionnaires will help students reflect on their mindsets and learn more about themselves. The data collected will be shared for informational purposes only with each child's teachers and school leaders and will not be used for any other purpose. If you have questions regarding this process, or if you would like to learn more about how these activities help us meet our school goals, please contact your child's school principal.
Links to the survey will be sent through tangischools email to all staff, teachers, and grade 3-12 students. Access to the survey will also be available under our homepage QuickLinks at the start of the survey window.
