Register My Child For School
Welcome to Tangipahoa Parish Schools!
We are excited to welcome your family to our community. Our registration process is designed to be simple and efficient, ensuring your child has everything they need for a successful start.
To register a new student online, parents must have a valid email address and a mobile device.
Registration Checklist: Joining the Tangi Family
Welcome to Tangipahoa Parish! To make your enrollment process as smooth as possible, please have the following documents ready when completing your registration.
1. Essential Student & Parent Identification
- Parent/Guardian Photo ID: A valid government-issued identification.
- Student’s Original Birth Certificate: Please provide the official original document.
- Student’s Immunization Record: Ensuring your child is up-to-date and ready for the classroom.
2. Proof of Residency
- To confirm your residence within our district, we require two (2) proofs of residency in the name of the parent or guardian. These must show a physical "911" address (P.O. Boxes are not accepted).
- Please provide any two of the following:
- Current utility bills (water, gas, or electric) showing the service address.
- Property tax record or mortgage document/property deed.
- An apartment/home lease or a notarized statement from the property owner.
- Note: If the student lives with a legal guardian, a court decree must be presented.
3. Important Academic & Legal Documents
- Including these items now helps us place your student in the right programs immediately:
- Drop Paperwork: Official withdrawal forms from your student’s previous school.
- Academic Support Records: A copy of the IEP or IAP (if applicable).
- Custody Documentation: If parents are separated/divorced or if the child lives with a legal guardian, please provide the necessary legal papers.
Quick Tip for New Residents
- If you are transferring from out of the district, pay special attention to the IEP/IAP and Drop Paperwork—having these ready helps our counselors ensure there is no delay in your student starting their new classes!
The Tangipahoa Parish School Board requires every student attending a school in the District and every student seeking initial enrollment in the District to complete online registration and provide proof of residency. All children (including Pre-K & K) enrolling in Tangipahoa Parish public schools are required to meet pertinent eligibility requirements. No student will be excluded from the appropriate school within the school district except by due process or failure to meet specifications of Board policies. The Board recognizes that providing equality of educational opportunities for all children requires objectivity. The Board is equally concerned that all admission policies adhere strictly to applicable legal requirements, e.g. health-related standards.

Public School Choice Transfer
Louisiana law allows parents or legal guardians to request enrollment for their child in a public school outside of their assigned attendance zone if all conditions below are met.
You may request a public school of choice if:
- Your child’s current or most recent public school (or the school your child would normally attend) received a school performance grade of “D” or “F” for the most recent school year, based on the state accountability system.
- The school you are requesting received a school performance grade of “A,” “B,” or “C” for the most recent school year and has available space in your child’s grade level.
**Please find the letter grade of our schools in our 2025 State Accountabilty Scores.
Important notes:
Approval of a school choice request is not guaranteed
- A request may be denied if approving it would:
- Violate state or federal law, or
- Conflict with a court order involving the student.
How to Apply: If your student meets the criteria above, you may submit your request via our online application portal. By completing the form, you confirm that you understand the requirements and that your child meets the eligibility criteria. Public School Choice Transfer application window is closed for this term.
