Family Engagement Policy
The Tangipahoa Parish School System (TPSS) has a Title I Parent Family Engagement Policy which outlines our commitment to involving parents in their children's education. This policy focuses on improving student academic achievement through effective parent and family involvement activities, coordinating engagement strategies, and annually evaluating the policy with parent input.
ESSA Parents Right to Know
As a parent, you have the "Right to Know" certain information about your child's education, as outlined in the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). Annually, if your child attends a Title I school, you can request details about their classroom teachers' professional qualifications, including their state qualifications, any waivers, and their certification field. You can also inquire about the qualifications of any paraprofessionals assisting your child. Additionally, the school must provide information on your child's academic achievement and growth on state assessments, and timely notice if your child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a non-certified teacher. The school district will also make public information about required state and district-wide assessments, including subject matter, purpose, and scheduling.
Get to Know Your Child’s Educators
We believe that transparency and trust are essential to your child’s educational journey. As part of our commitment to excellence, we encourage families to explore the professional credentials of their child’s teachers.
