  • Principal's Message ---- Ms. Ashley Walker
    Hi Parents and Students,
During September, your child met with Mr. Miller, Mrs. English, Mrs. Gordon-Ard, Mrs. Williams, or myself and set his/her goals for the 2017 Spring LEAP test.  We talked about ways they can better improve their scores in certain subject areas from re-working math problems at home to taking better notes in class.  In the next week, students’ goal sheets will be displayed in the glass case in the hallway near our library.  These will serve as a reminder to the students throughout the school year that they set a goal and that they should work hard to achieve it.  The only way we are going to improve our School Performance Score and ensure that your child is College and Career Ready if is he/she is focused and has education as a top goal.  We come to school to learn.  We should also come to school to forge friendships that last a lifetime and that support us in reaching our goals.  Our school-wide statement this year is that we are a “BAND of Warriors” at Amite Westside Middle Magnet School.  This includes Being prepared, Accepting responsibility, Nurturing others, and Disciplining Ourselves.
Please work with your child on understanding that they should come to school and be prepared and accept responsibility in all things.  They should nurture others by helping classmates that they know are struggling whether it is struggling academically or struggling making friends, etc.  Lastly, they should focus on self-discipline.  These are keys to becoming a better person and a better learner.
    Go Warriors!
