GRADING SCALE CHanges DUE TO RECENT LEGISLATIVE UPDATES
Effective the 2024-25 School Year
Recent legislation changed the grading scale for the state to a 10 point scale. These changes aim to provide a uniform system of grading across all Louisiana school districts.
TPSS is committed to including parents/guardians in the educational process, and one way to accomplish this is through a web application called “Student Progress Center.” This online system allows parents/guardians a safe and secure means of reviewing their child’s class assignments, grades, attendance records, discipline, transcripts, fees, and other information. Current grades are posted for every subject a student takes. When teachers enter test and assignment grades, the student’s average is shown, thereby allowing parents/guardians the ability to monitor the child’s progress in each subject.

Promotion Requirements
Students must achieve an absolute “D” in Reading, English, and Mathematics. Students may fail 1 major subject, social studies or science and 1 minor subject and be promoted. A student may fail 2 minor subjects and be promoted.
3rd Grade Reading
Beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year, a new Louisiana law will take effect requiring third-grade students who are significantly underperforming in reading to repeat the grade. This legislation aims to address literacy challenges by ensuring students have foundational reading skills before advancing to fourth grade.
