Tangipahoa Parish School System Continues Upward Momentum in 2025 State Accountability Results

 

Tangipahoa Parish School System is proud to announce continued growth in the 2025 Louisiana Department of Education State Accountability Results. The district improved its overall District Performance Score by 2.3 points this year, marking a 6.5-point gain, and outpacing the state growth over the past two years. 

Additionally, the school system’s Strength of Diploma Index increased to 92.6%, growing 6.8 points. This index is impacted by the number of students with dual enrollment classes and those who have earned workforce credentials. 

This year, 22 schools, approximately 74%, improved their School Performance Scores. Tangipahoa Parish School System remains a solid “C” District, continuing a positive upward trajectory.

Schools with Double-Digit Growth in 2025

Three schools posted outstanding gains of more than 10 points in one year:

  • Martha Vinyard Elementary School – 11.6
     
  • Perrin Early Learning Center – 10.6
     
  • Kentwood High Magnet School – 10.4
     

Schools Growing 5–9 Points in 2025

  • Midway Elementary School – 9.1
     
  • Hammond Westside Montessori School– 7.5
     
  • Natalbany Middle School – 7.3
     
  • Loranger High School – 6.4
     
  • Lucille Nesom Memorial School – 6.0
     
  • O.W. Dillon Elementary School – 5.6
     
  • D.C. Reeves Elementary School – 5.3
     

Schools Improving a Full Letter Grade in 2025

Seven schools moved up an entire letter grade:

  • Amite Elementary School
     
  • Independence Leadership Academy
     
  • Kentwood High Magnet School
     
  • Midway Elementary School
     
  • Lucille Nesom Memorial
     
  • Perrin Early Learning Center
     
  • Hammond Westside Montessori School
     
  • Martha Vinyard Elementary School earned an exceptional accomplishment, improving TWO letter grades in one year, from an F to a C letter grade.

Last year, the district had three F-rated schools. Today, only one school remains an F, Woodland Park, demonstrating strong improvements across the system.

These schools earned an A for Progress Index, which means students are meeting or exceeding their learning targets for growth,  with no additional labels:

Highest Performing Schools in Tangipahoa

  • Sumner High School – Highest performing high school: SPS 86.3 (B)
     
  • Loranger High School – Second-highest performing high school: SPS 83.4 (B)
     
  • Loranger Middle School – Highest performing middle/junior high in the district: SPS 69 (C)
     
  • Sumner Middle School - Second-highest performing middle school:
    SPS 67.3 (C)
     
  • Spring Creek Elementary – Highest performing elementary school:
    SPS 74.4 (C)
     
  • Loranger Elementary - Second-highest performing elementary school:
    SPS 72.3 (C)

“These results show what is possible when schools, families, and communities work together for children. Our educators and support staff are making great strides, and our students are proving every day that they can achieve at high levels. We are incredibly proud of the progress across our parish and remain committed to continued growth,” said Superintendent Melissa Stilley.

Tangipahoa Parish School System will continue its focus on instructional excellence, positive school culture, and strong support systems to ensure every student thrives.
