School Improvement Grants
School Improvement Grants (SIG), authorized under section 1003(g) of Title 1 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), are grants to state education agencies (SEA) that SEAs use to make competitive subgrants to local educational agencies (LEA) that demonstrate the greatest need for the funds and the strongest commitment to use the funds to provide adequate resources in order to substantially raise the achievement of students in their lowest-performing schools.
School Improvement Plan
The purpose of a School Improvement Plan is to ensure that all children receive a high-quality education, and to close the achievement gap between children meeting the challenging state academic standards and those children who are not meeting such standards. Each local educational agency plan meets ESEA Sec 1112(b)(1)(A).
