Hammond Eastside Elementary Magnet fourth graders were recently visited by "Bigfoot Cinderrrrrella", also known as Monica Sullivan, Librarian. She read Bigfoot Cinderrrrella by Tony Johnston and illustrated by James Warhola. All participants were winners for their courage and willingness to try new activities. Our judges were PTA President, Angela Hood, and secretary, Theresa Bouquet. The winner for third grade was Norman Warren from Mrs. Adams’ Class and our 5th grade winner was Jamia Williams from Mrs. Simmons’ Class. Congratulations to all participants and winners! Midway Elementary School PTA made a generous donation of $500 to purchase new books for the Library. Midway is very fortunate to have such an active PTA. Volunteers at Roseland Elementary Montessori helped to inventory new books that were received through the magnet grant. The books are to assist the teachers in preparing students for the new Common Core Standards in reading and writing. We are very excited about having an active PTA this year at REMS.
