Teachers,
We are now taking applications for those teachers interested in participating in the TangiTech Institutes. These are five-day intensively structured technology staff development programs to help Tangipahoa teachers become comfortable with available technology resources. TangiTech provides many examples of effective technology-based strategies that support and enhance curriculum and can provide a catalyst for fundamental change in the overall teaching and learning process. The focus of the program is good teaching not good technology. Participating teachers learn basic technology skills while focusing on project-based activities that use Louisiana Content Standards.
Participants must be willing to commit to the following:
- Attend all five training sessions (hours are from 8:00 - 3:30 for all dates).
- Critically examine his/her own instructional practices to determine how technology can play a role in enhancing the teaching and learning process.
- Implement technology projects and activities developed during the training program and the school year.
- Develop three technology-connected lesson plans and be willing to share one of those with fellow educators.
- Build a portfolio of products, templates, professional readings, and plans.
Schools must be willing to commit to the following:
- Attendance by the Principal to at least four (4) hours of a TangiTech Institute.
- Assure that teachers will have access to the necessary supplies and materials to complete projects.
- Allow teachers to present to the faculty at least once during the current year. (Support a technology "Share Fair" if more than 4 teachers have attended TangiTech in the past two years.)
- Support the publicity efforts of the participating teachers.
The district commits to the following:
- Assure that the experience is worth your time and effort!!
- Substitute pay for attendance during the school day.
- Providing software for use during staff development, a teacher's guide, lesson plans, and access to the Louisiana Content Standards in digital form.
Please fax your application to Vicki Blackwell
419-1389. A minimum of twenty teachers per session will be accepted. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. You will be notified if your application has been accepted.
