Hammond Eastside Student Receives Honorable Mention for Art Contest
Khalil McKnight, 6th grader at Hammond Eastside Magnet, has won an Honorable Mention in the Louisiana Art Education Association's Youth Art Month Flag Design Contest. This year's theme is "United Through Art". Contestants were required to create a flag design which included the state name and Youth Art Month logo, focused on this year's theme, had a well-balanced composition, and could easily translate to an actual flag (bold colors and lines). His artwork will be on exhibit at the Artists in the Capital Day Awards Ceremony in May, where he and HEM's middle school Visual Art teacher, Heather McNamara, will be recognized along with the other winners.
