MATHEMATICS GRADE 7
Mrs. Fairburn
C.H.O.P.:
Classwork, Homework, Organization, and Participation Grade.
Students are given 100
C.H.O.P. points at the beginning of each six weeks. Each time
class work or homework is NOT completed, 10 points are deducted.
Also, students are expected to bring the necessary materials to class and be
actively involved in class instruction. Each time students DO NOT
have the appropriate materials, or they are NOT actively involved
in classroom activities, 5 points will be deducted.
(Classwork and homework are checked for completeness not
correct answers.)
Daily Progress Reports:
Graded papers are reviewed in class. Students are to keep a cumulative record of these grades on their grade sheet for the entire six weeks. Parents are asked to review and sign the grade sheet after each grade entry.
Warm Ups
These problems and concepts are designed in the format of the I-Leap test. Students are to copy the problems and concepts into their warm-up notebook. These problems and concepts are reviewed daily. Some warm-ups are quiz card warm-ups.
Flashcards/Quiz cards
During the 1st six weeks, the students made a set of 20, Most Common Fraction Percent, and Decimal Flash Cards. These card facts will be tested the lat six weeks of each grading period. Please review these cards and information with your child.
The students are now making a deck of quiz cards to be used in the classroom to review key terms and concepts. The quiz card information is copied during warm-up and these cards are made at home. Quiz cards are due the day after a quiz card warm-up. At the end of the project your child should have an entire deck of 52 cards which will count as a test grade.
Level Test
A level test was administered to my students during the first week of school. This test shows the basic computation strengths/weaknesses. Please review your child's results and note areas that need improvement. A handwritten copy is found in your child's warm-up notebook.
i-Leap Testing Schedule Dates: March 20-24, 2006
Holt Middle School Math Course 2 Textbook:
Parents, your child's textbook is a great resource. At the beginning of each chapter is an "Are You Ready?" page (purple tab pages). Review these pages with your child to help make sure they're ready for the work in the chapter. Every lesson has Homework Help online (go.hrw.com), I have given your child his/her user id and password to utilize this website. Every chapter has a Study Guide and Review (aqua tab pages) to help students review and practice the concepts and skill presented in the chapter. Located at the back of the text you will find the Selected Answers section (orange tab pages) where the students can self-check their work.
