Senator Ben Nevers Visits Sumner

Senator Nevers visited Sumner Middle School as Ms. Bahm’s guest speaker for the 6th grade on November 1. While he was here, he showed the students some examples of what state government does. He held a meeting to decide what kind of pizza the students would vote for using two students as representatives. The vote then had to pass as law or be vetoed by the Governor. Senator Nevers also gave them a chance to ask him questions. Before leaving, he told the students that he was donating a check for $100 for their next thin crust, pepperoni pizza party, because that was the kind of pizza that the students voted on.

Senator Nevers also presented the school with a state flag. The students really enjoyed his visit and learned about state government.
