The rodeo team participated in the Cowboys High School Rodeo in Lafayette and made a very strong showing in their first rodeo. Karlie Collette, Brooke McNabb, and Bryan Menard all competed. Brooke McNabb won second place honors in the Pole Bending performance Saturday night. Bryan Menard placed fourth in the Bull Riding Saturday night as well. Congratulations to all the rodeo team members.
The rodeo team traveled to Opelousas to compete in the St. Landry High School Rodeo. Brooke McNabb represented Sumner in the barrel racing and pole bending. Bryan Menard represented Sumner in the bull riding. Congratulation to Brooke for placing first in jackpot poles in her performance.
Congratulations to the Rodeo Team members Tyler Morgan and Dustin McDaniel for representing Sumner at the Amite County Youth Rodeo in Liberty, Mississippi. Tyler won first place in the bareback bronc riding division. Other Sumner students who competed were Chance Shaw, Bryan Menard, and Taylor Miller. Bryan won first place in both saddle bronc riding and bull riding.
The Rodeo Team traveled to New Caney, Texas, last weekend for the prestigious Sankey Rodeo School. Bull Rider Cody McDaniel did exceptionally well in the school and earned the respect of his instructors. Congratulations to Tyler Morgan who is the new 2007 Champion Bareback Rider for the Amite County Youth Rodeo Association. Special congratulations to Dustin McDaniel who is the ACYRA Finals Champion Bull Rider. Dustin has also qualified for the National Little Britches Finals Rodeo in Pueblo, Colorado. Congratulations to all Sumner High School Rodeo Team members.
