2007-2008 Senior Cheerleader Interviews

What would you tell someone thinking about joining the team next year?

Make sure cheerleading is something you want to do.  You need to always be positive, patient, and willing to work hard because it all pays off on Friday nights.

What do you expect from the newer members of the group?

I expect freshman to be confident and willing to help when needed.  Every grade is equal on the cheerleading squad.  You earn your position.

What do you think our biggest challenge will be this year?

Our challenge is being a little weak because we don't have as many people.

Has being in the group changed you in any way?

Yes, it’s given me some great memories and is still helping me grow as a better leader with more patience.  I love cheering for the Cowboys.

What are your goals for the 2007 season?

I would like to change things up a little; every year is the same: You go to practice, cheer, stunt, and practice more.  I want us to do more and be closer with the girls.

What are your most memorable Mrs. G moments?

When she fell in the cardboard box during her daily speech at practice.

Once, during class, we threw paper at her when Logan gave the signal when she entered from the hall.

We also hid her podium behind boxes.

What are your plans after high school?

I would love to go to SLU and get a teaching degree in either elementary or high school.

What will you take out of the field and into the real world?

I will take the dedication and drive into the real world.  The hard work that you put into cheering and performing in front of crowds has helped me become confident.  Being a captain strengthens your responsibility and patience.  It makes you respect the ones in charge of you like your teachers, boss, and parents.
