State Powerlifting Meet

The Sumner High School 2007 Powerlifting team members are Quentin Warner, Cody Wilson, Joseph Calderone, Michael Gulotta, Zach Kellum, Billy Sheppard, Caleb Graham, Brent Cooper, Jordan Griffin, DeAndre Walker, and Cody Waller.

The 2007 Powerlifting team would also like to thank the following sponsors:

The 2007 Jewel Sumner Powerlifting team had another successful season. Their results were Quentin Warner, 3^rd place, 220 lb. class, South Regional Meet and Brent Cooper, 5^th place, 123 lb. class, South Regional Meet.

We had seven state meet qualifiers, Quentin Warner, 220 lb. class; Cody Wilson, 242 lb. class; Joseph Calderone, 275 lb. class; Brent Cooper, 123 lb. class; Jordan Griffin, 165 lb. class, and DeAndre Walker, 148 lb. class.

Also, we had two junior varsity state runner-ups, Michael Gulotta, 242 lb. class; Billy Sheppard, 275 lb. class.

The LHSPLA State meet results were Cody Wilson, 3^rd place, Division II (all class 2A, 1A and B & C), 242 lb. class and Zach Kellum, 5^th place, Class 2A.

SHS South Regional Powerlifting Meet

The Jewel Sumner Powerlifting Team had 7 members qualify for the LHSPLA state meet. They qualified at the South Regional meet held on January 27 at Ellender High School in Houma. The team members who qualified are as follows:

Brent Cooper-123 lb. class
Deandre Walker-148 lb. class
Jordan Griffin-165 lb. class
Quentin Warner-220 lb. class
Cody Wilson-242 lb. class
Zack Kellum-275 lb. class
Joseph Calderone-275 lb. class

Also, Quentin Warner and Brent Cooper placed 3^rd and 5^th in their weight classes overall. At their regional powerlifting meet, lifters compete against lifters from all size schools 5A thru B classes. The powerlifting team is raising money to cover necessary supplies and travel expenses.
