Introduction

Ponchatoula is a growing town!Governor Mike Foster has chosen our class to be the builders and zookeepers for his new project, "The Berrytown Zoo."Mr. Foster has requested that the class work in groups to choose zoo animals and build their habitats.As a group, your tasks will be as follows:manager, researcher, planner, and photographer.As manager, your job will be to ask the teacher any questions for the group.As researcher, you will search the internet sites for the information along with the planner who will record the information.As needed, the photographer will find pictures on the websites to match the stories.As a culminating activity, the group will draw a map of the zoo using Kids Pix software.



The Task

Here are some questions you will need to answer to begin:

What is a mammal?

What is a reptile?

What is a amphibian?

What does habitat mean?

Next, you have some choices to make about which animals and habitats to place at the new site:

Choose two of each: mammal, reptile and amphibian for our zoo.

Design the habitat and list types of food for each animal.

What is an endangered species?

Choose two endangered animals for the exhibit.

Design the habitat and list types of food for the endangered animals.



The Process

1.Go to the internet sites to search for the answers to questions 1 through 4. You will write description in your Science notebooks.Type your summary in Microsoft Word, Save to 3 ½ floppy. Here are some sites you may use:www.allaboutanimals.com
