BIOLOGY
This course is organized to present the study of living things with emphasis on cellular biology, genetics, human anatomy and physiology, microbiology (Protists), and the phylogenetic approach to the plant and animal kingdoms. Laboratory investigations include using the microscope, chemicals, living and preserved specimen, insects and plant collections.

BIOLOGY ACCELERATED
The honors biology course is designed to go more in depth in the study of Biology and to develop critical reasoning.

BIOLOGY II ACCELERATED
Biology II is a study of the anatomy and physiology of the human body. This course is designed not only to relay facts but also to instill in the student an intangible feeling for the need to adhere to signals, which the body gives.

CHEMISTRY
This chemistry course will cover the following: The relationship of chemistry to other sciences and its role in our society; the basic measurement principles and mathematical techniques to perform laboratory work; the study of matter and concepts of energy changes that accompany chemical and physical changes; atomic structure; the use of the periodic table; systems in aqueous solutions: concentration, equilibrium, and ionization; acids, bases, and salts; nuclear chemistry; organic Compounds: nomenclature and structure.

CHEMISTRY ACCELERATED
In this course laboratory experiences, demonstrations, and problem solving are stressed. Scientific notation and measurement, the mole concept, formulas and balancing of equations are included. Gas laws, behavior of liquids, acid-bases, bonding, energy changes, and qualitative and quantitative analysis are taught.

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
This course for high school students is being implemented in an effort to raise the level of environment literacy among Louisiana's citizens. The content of this course is presented within the framework of well-founded physical and biological principles. This course is designed to use basic scientific principles to study the processes of the environment from a broad perspective; to identify both natural and man-made activities that contribute to changes in the environment; and to isolate the political, legal, economic, and social aspects of the environment.

PHYSICAL SCIENCE
This course is divided into two main categories, physics and chemistry. Chemistry deals with the composition of matter and the chemical changes in matter. Physics deals with fources, motion, radiation, electricity, magnetism, heat and light.

PHYSICAL SCIENCE ACCELERATED
The honors physical science course is especially designed for those students who have shown superior abilities in the lower grades. The course is approached as a college preparatory course with special enrichment in the fields of chemistry and physics. The areas of chemistry and physics will be investigated with laboratory work to enhance the basic concepts.

PHYSICS ACCELERATED
This course includes the study of force, motion, work, energy, machines, fluids, magnetism, electricity, electronics, radiation, sound and light. This course will be focused on problem solving in preparation for college physics. Prerequisite: Adv. Math I must be taken proceeding or concurrently with Accelerated Physics. Student must have both math and science teachers' signatures for approval.
