October 31st-November 4th Newsletter

What's Shining?

This week we will be learning the letter Cc (the sounds that it makes and how to write it.  In math, our focus will be more, fewer, and equal as we continue working with graphs.  We will also continue grouping things, counting and writing the corresponding number,  patterns, etc.

We will learn about our basic needs and the six food groups in the food pyramid.
How to eat healthy will be emphasized in our study of the different food groups.
This all will be incorporated as we begin our unit on Native Americans (i.e. Indians)!

Reminding Rays

Snacks for November!

Please send a healthy but favorite food for your child’s snack on Friday.  We will graph which food group each snack is in.  Send for your child only!

Book orders should be arriving this week.  I will send November’s book order home this week also.  It will be due next Wednesday.

Please make sure that all important items (letters, payments, excuses, etc.) are placed in your child’s folder.  I check these every morning and try my best to respond to anything you have sent to me.

If you and your child find items that represent signs of fall or are significant to our Native American study (leaves, corn, husks, nuts, arrowheads, etc.), please send them!

Thanks a bunch!

Talk about the different food groups with your child while you are cooking or grocery shopping.  This will help make their learning a real life experience!

Please save and send any 2-liter coke bottles for a project we are doing next week.  Also, send any paper towel rolls (cardboard tube only) that you can collect at your house.  One more thing, we will be making little Native American tom toms from 12 oz cans (powdered baby formula, Slim Fast, etc.).  If you have any available, please send those also.

Practice Makes Us Bright!

Homework books should be about Native Americans!  Please help your child practice writing his/her sight words and the letter Cc. We are reading many multi cultural Native American books this week. Don’t forget to read with your child every night and return “little readers” daily.
