Classroom Discipline Plan
It is my belief that all students
have the right to learn. No student has the right to stop the
teacher from teaching or other students from learning.
Therefore, with my principal’s approval, I will be using the
"Behavior that’s Bright!" behavior plan. I am asking
that you read and review this plan with your child so that both
of you will be aware of the rules and what will happen if your
child chooses to break a rule.
You will receive a "Behavior
That’s Bright" Discipline Report every Friday. Your child
has the opportunity to earn 5 smiley faces on his/her behavior
chart for the week, in which case he/she may get a prize from my
prize can on Friday. If your child receives an X on
any day, the chart must be signed and returned the following
Monday. If the chart is not returned, your child will spend
recesses in the Time-Out Room until the note is returned.
Parents will be notified if the note is not returned in 3 days.
My Class Rules:
- We raise our hands to speak.
- We work quietly in our seats.
- We use voices soft and sweet.
- We keep our places nice and neat.
- We are helpful, kind, and fair.
- We take turns and always share.
A "Behavior That’s Bright" chart will be posted
at all times in our classroom. Each student will have a
clothespin with his/her name and picture on it. For each
offense, the clothespin will move down the chart. Each day is a
new beginning as the child’s clothespin will return to
"Sunny Smiles."
Consequences if a student chooses to break a rule:
1st offense:
verbal warning.
Clothespin
begins on side of the "Sunny Smiles"
3rd offense: 15 minutes away from group and lose 1
recess.
Clothespin
will move to the "Uh-Oh Overcast" card. The
student will receive a sad face on his/her behavior chart.
4th offense: 15 minutes away from group and lose 2
recesses.
Clothespin
will move to "Dark and Gloomy" card. Student
receives an X on his/her behavior chart.
5th offense: Student visits principal.
Clothespin
moves to "Crying Clouds" card. The student will
receive a red X on behavior chart and a copy of the
disciplinary form from the office.
Severe Clause: A student will be sent straight to the
principal if he/she chooses to do the following:
- Constantly disrupts entire class with behavior.
- Does bodily injury to himself or another student.
- Destroys property.
- Refuses to obey teacher.
- Severe fighting anywhere on campus.
Students who violate established school rules will be
referred to the Principal. It is in your child’s best interest
that we work together. Should your child’s conduct in my room
be disruptive, I will be in contact with you and will expect you
to help me correct the problem.
Please keep this copy for future reference. On your child’s
screening test day, I will ask you to sign a copy that will
remain on file in my classroom. If you have any questions,
please let me know.
Sincerely,
Kelley Cook
