We made a bat
shaped book with rhyming words in the "at" word
family. |

One of our
helping moms took the time to make this precious Bat Cake! The
kids were so excited to see this and I was so impressed, I hated to cut
it! |

This was one of our activities in centers. They had to match the correct number of bat fangs (candy corn) to the number on the bat mat. Then of course we had to put the bat fangs in place and eat them! |

We
read "Stellaluna," played the computer game, and
watched the movie! Then we compared and contrasted bats and birds! |
|
| This was another center activity: Shape Bats! | ||

| We made bat necklaces by painting bow tie pasta and gluing on eyes. Then we made a pattern with black and purple beads, of course! How cute! | ||

| We made these cool Batman shirts by using an oval stencil and sponge di-cuts! (Sponges go through the di-cut roller easily and are great way to paint various shapes!) We even used di-cut sponge letters! | ||

| We couldn't have a batman shirt without a batman hat, now, could we? | ||

| We talked about how bats fly around so well at night because of their excellent hearing. We related it to the phrase "Blind as a bat" and talked about how they can't see very well in the dark at all. We played this bat game where we blindfolded the "bat" and then took turns jingling the keys. The "bat" had to find where the noise was coming from and identify the person without looking! | ||

| We also talked about the different sizes of bats. We cut paper strips to represent the different wingspans (from 12 inches to 7 feet!) and lined them up from shortest to longest! Sorry no pictures, but here are a few from last year! | ||
