We stamped an
apple pattern... |

and used it for a border. |

Still stamping! |
We
made Homemade Apple Sauce!
What a tasty treat for Open House!
|

Mrs. Cook peeled
the apples.
|

We sliced the apples.
|

We put them in
the pot.
|

We added sugar.
|

We added cinnamon.
|

We added water.
|

And we let it
cook all day.
|

|

We talked about the
water cycle (look on the lid!) |
| We
had an apple balancing relay! |

Is it on
straight? |

I think I can, I
think I can! |

Go team! |

Look mom, no
hands! |

This takes
concentration! |

Cool &
Confident! |

Please don't fall! |
|

Steady, steady! |
Where
is Mr. Wiggles?
We
made a book, "Where is Mr. Wiggles?" It helped
us practice our directional words like above, below, beside,
inside, outside, between, etc. The pages are below.
|

"Where is
Mr. Wiggles?"
|

Mr. Wiggles is
above the apple.
|

Mr. Wiggles is
below the apple.
|

Mr. Wiggles is
beside the apple.
|

Mr. Wiggles is
outside the apple.
|

Mr. Wiggles is
inside the apple.
|

Mr. Wiggles is
between the apples.
|

Mr. Wiggles is
eating the apple!
|

Reading is fun!

Apple
Counting Book
We made this cute little apple counting book, highlighting all
of our popcorn words, writing in the color words, and gluing the
appropriate number of apples on the tree. Lots of things
to practice from this book: colors, counting, reading, matching,
etc.

Seed
Estimation
We
estimated how many seeds were inside the apple. Then we
read a story about the little red house with no windows or doors
with a star inside. We cut open the apple, found the star
and counted to see if our estimate of seeds was
right.
|

Here is my
estimate!
|

There is a star
inside!
|

A good "guess"timate!
|
| Counting
to check our estimates! We also compared how many seeds
were in different kinds of apples.
|
Apple
Taste Test
We tasted three
different kinds of apples: red delicious, golden delicious,
& granny smith. We wrote "I like _______."
on the color apple that was our favorite and sorted them into a
tree map!

Apple
Thinking Maps
Apples are so easy to
plug into many different thinking maps. We would have
liked to do more, but ran out of time!

Apple

We painted paper
plates different apple colors and then
displayed them outside the door for Open House! Thanks for
putting up the display Mrs. Jennifer!

Apples
On Top
We read Dr. Seuss' "Ten Apples Up On Top" and then
made a class book. The children chose how many apples they
wanted on top their heads and filled in their name and how
many. They really enjoyed reading the book and it stays in
our Book Nook for them to read during center time!

|
|
| This
will be the September handprint in the calendar we are
making! We used our handprints for the tree tops and our
thumbprints for the apples!
