The faculty and staff of Hammond Westside Upper Elementary School believe in the development of the whole child. WE strive to provide opportunities for the development of each child to his maximum potential in the areas of basic skill competencies, human relationships, health, and physical fitness, and aesthetic appreciation.
	We believe that school is one of the most important agencies for developing children to take their place as useful, contributing members in our society. The principal and staff believe in the freedom and dignity of the individual.
	Through their combined efforts the teachers endeavor to enrich the learning environment of the pupils with knowledge that will enable them to cope with the physical and mental addresses present in all ethnic groups within our society.
