Zero Tolerance Policy


ZERO TOLERANCE
    Students will be informed that physical fighting will not be tolerated. Students who choose to fight will be arrested and taken into custody by law enforcement officers. A fine of $50 will be assessed for the first 3-day suspension: $100 will be assessed for the second 3-day suspension. For two (2) additional days, students will report to conflict resolution.
    In School Suspension— (1) Failure to wear ID properly; (2) Failure to submit ID when asked; (3) Failure to identify oneself when asked; (4) Dress code violations; Fourth tardy; and (6) Assigned as deemed necessary by administrators.
    Any time a student is suspended, he/she must obtain a Return From Suspension form from the Disciplinarian who suspended him/her. The following can result in a one, two, or three-day suspension at the discretion of an administrator:

  (1) Failure to attend any disciplinary center assigned.

  (2) Willful disobedience (failure to follow any specific school
       and/or lab rule).

  (3) Failure to follow parking lot/driving regulations
       (parking permit removed for 1 week).

  (4) Tardies (after 4th tardy).

  (5) Presence in an unauthorized area.

  (6) Profanity, pornographic materials, suggestive language,
       symbols, gestures.

  (7) Throwing objects.

  (8) Refusal to sign a referral (Your signature does not indicate
       agreement with the referral but only receipt of the document).

  (9) Habitual violation of school rules—dress code, ID, shaving.

  (10) Smoking or possession of tobacco in any form.

  (11) False charges against authority.

  (12) Conduct injurious to others (depending upon the degree
         of injury).

  (13) Vandalism (Student must also pay for damages).

  (14) Conduct injurious to others (depending upon the degree
         of injury).

  (15) Cutting class.

  (16) Theft (Student must also pay back anything stolen).

  (17) Disrespect for authority.

  (18) Immoral or vicious practices.

  (19) Gambling.

  (20) No cards, dice, dominoes or other games are allowed
         on campus.

  (21) Classroom disruption.

    If a student is suspended on the day of an activity (football game, performance, field trip, etc.), he/she cannot participate in the activity.

STEP V or STEP VI HEARINGS

    At all Step V or Step VI hearings a parent MUST be present at the conference before a student is allowed to return to school.

STEP V

(1) Bullying, intimidation or threatening.

(2) Fighting (Conflict resolution – 3 Day Suspension, 2 – Day Conflict Resolution)

(3) Discipline is at the discretion of the administrator.

STEP VI

(1) Assault.

(2) Possession of drugs or alcohol, intent to distribute, sell, give, loan, or has knowledge of such activity.

(3) Engaging in or attempting to engage in sexual relations.

(4) Possession and/or use of firearms and/or weapons.

(5) Threatening violence.

(6) Other serious offense.

(7) Verbal assault or profanity toward staff (Charges will be pressed and student will be arrested).

(8) Inciting a riot.

    Any student who feels he/she has been sexually harassed should see his/her counselor IMMEDIATELY.


MEDICATION
    Any student who is required to take medication during the regular school day must comply with school regulations. These regulations include written orders from the physician, parent request and permission, and appropriately labeled medication. Before medication is taken at school, a parent is required to meet with the school nurse.

DISCIPLINE
    Students are responsible for their own actions. For tardies, skipping and other disciplinary actions, teachers are to send the students to the following administrators: Ms. Spring and Mr. Hill.
