membership:
3.5 overall GPA; Jr. or sr. standing; selected by a Faculty
Council on qualities of scholarship, character, leadership,
and service.
Activities:
Thanksgiving Food Drive (in conjunction with the Student
Council); usher at graduation; guides for Open House; sell
Prom t-shirts; yearly induction ceremony
Affiliations:
Member of NASSP (National Association of Secondary School Principals),
the organization which sponsors National Honor Society,
National Junior Honor Society, and Student Council.
National
Honor Society History
The
National Honor Society was established in 1921 for the
purpose of
recognizing and fostering academic achievement, while
developing other
characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy.
Scholarship,
character, service, and leadership are ideals that remain as
relevant
today as in 1921. Through NHS chapter service activities,
members
maintain and extend the qualities that won them selection.
Membership
is thus both an honor and an obligation.
