Cars dropping off and picking up children at D.C. Reeves Elementary should turn on Rateau Rd. from Hwy. 22 (the road next to Speedy's Seafood and Deli), enter at the school's gate on Rateau Rd. going one way only. This is the gate closest to Sister's Rd. Vehicles should approach this entrance from Rateau Rd. and NOT Sisters Rd. Cars will move along the gravel road that follows the fence line and form two lines (side by side) at the curve before the walkway. Three cars from one line then three cars from the next line should merge into one lane under the covered walkway. DO NOT FORM TWO LINES IN FRONT OF THE WALKWAY. Two teachers will be stationed in this area to assist with this procedure. Please watch for their signals. After leaving the pick the area, vehicles will exit the campus on the gravel road that leads to the gate at the rear of the playground. Vehicles are to exit on to Rateau Rd. making a right turn only. This right turn will lead you back to Hwy 22. **Please be sure to have your child to school on time. The gates will be locked at 8:25 am. (school begins at this time). Students arriving after this time must go to the office for a tardy slip. Any parent picking up their child from carpool MUST have a pick-up permit. This card should be placed on the dash board of the passenger side of the car. *If you do not have a pick-up permit card, you will NOT be able to pick your child up from carpool line. If someone else is picking up your child, please be sure they have a pick-up permit in their car. Any car without a pick-up permit will be asked to drive around to the office to receive a permit. No exceptions will be made regarding this procedure.
Please adhere to the following guidelines when arriving or leaving D.C. Reeves: 1. Always have your pick-up permit displayed on your dash board when arriving in carpool line. 2. No child is to be dropped off before 7:55 am. 3. When dropping off or picking up your child, please remain in your car at all times. No parent will be allowed to walk through the transportation area. 4. Please do not park in any faculty parking area. 5. Parents are NEVER allowed to use the Bus Driveway. 6. In the afternoon, the gates open at 2:35 pm. School dismissal is at 3:15 pm. Please be prompt in picking your child up from school. Children picked up after 3:30 will be referred to the school administrator and possibly the 7th Ward Court System. 7. No child who normally rides a bus will be allowed to go to private transportation area unless a note has been sent to the teacher that morning. If there is any doubt as to whether the child should go to car pick-up, the child will be sent home on his regular bus. 8. Parents directly in front of the pick-up area should not move until the duty teacher signals for them to move. 9. It is the parent's responsibility to notify children if a change in transportation is necessary. 10. Messages will NOT be delivered to students via the office. All transportation decisions must be made by parents BEFORE the beginning of the school day.
