Classroom Rules and Procedures

I firmly believe that life-long learning and success depends on self-discipline.  My rules and procedures allow every student the opportunity to manage his or her own behavior while learning to be responsible and treat others with respect.  Your child deserves the most positive educational climate possible for academic growth.  Therefore, these rules will be in effect at all times when the students are in my classroom.

RULES

1.      Follow instructions the first time given.

2.     Raise your hand to speak or leave your desk.

3.     Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

4.     Treat everyone with respect.

CONSEQUENCES

Classroom behavior will be monitored and recorded on a daily basis.

1.      The first time a rule is broken, an X will be written on the student's behavior card.  This is considered a warning.

2.    The second time a rule is broken another X will be added to the student's behavior card.  This will result in a 10 minute detention that will be served during recess.  At that time the student may be required to complete a behavior sheet that will be sent home in the communicator to be signed by their parent and returned to school.

3.    The third time a rule is broken another X will be added to the student's behavior card.  At this point parents will receive a phone call or letter to involve them in remedying the situation.

4.    For serious offenses, a referral form will be completed and sent to the office for further action.

***  When necessary I will document comments on the back of a student's behavior card identifying the inappropriate behaviors that are taking place in the classroom.

***  If this discipline plan needs to be adjusted during the school year, parents will be notified of the changes through a letter.

REWARDS

Good behavior will be rewarded!  The rewards include stickers, candy, prizes, free time, positive note sent home, positive phone call, sign the brag book, pizza parties, tickets, popsicles, pencils, pickles, and eating lunch with the teacher.

Good behavior promotes a positive learning environment for every student.  Please reinforce at home the idea that each child is responsible for his/her behavior, and must bear the consequences of that behavior.  Some consequences are good and some are bad.  Self-discipline is one of the best lessons a child can learn!
