Elizabeth Covington is the principal of Amite Elementary School.  She was born in Baton Rouge and grew up in Amite, Louisiana.  She is a graduate of Amite High School and has a B.A. from Southeastern Louisiana University in Elementary Education.  She also has her Master's plus 30 in Administration and Supervision.

Mrs. Covington taught at Amite Elementary from 1970-2002.  She was a second grade teacher for three years and taught Special Education for twenty-eight years.

She is married to Dick Covington, who is the Assistant Principal at Amite High School.  They have two sons, Brent and Brian.

In her spare time, Mrs. Covington enjoys reading, traveling, and visiting her sons in Texas.  She also enjoys helping her husband raise beef cattle.

Mrs. Covington dressed like Cat in the Hat and visited the classrooms. The students collectively earned 4,500 points in the Accelerated Reader program.
