Amanda King (art teacher), and Ms. Karen
Venterella (SPED teacher), took 14 students
to see the Governor’s Mansion! The students were chosen based upon their
interest
in art and enthusiasm in producing works of their own. We received a
box of 15 ornaments from the main office and were asked to have the
students
decorate them and send them off to the Governor’s Mansion A.S.A.P.! The
students
did a fabulous job decorating the ornaments on their own.
After doing so it was decided that it would be a great idea to take the
kids who
decorated the ornaments on a fieldtrip to the Governor’s Mansion.
The mansion
schedules tours for schools and encourages schools who
participated to schedule a visit. With the help of our principal, Mrs. Kay
Christmas and
secretary, Mrs. Regina Oliver, we were able to set up the trip in no time.
The
students were able to see their ornaments on the Christmas trees in the
Governor’s mansion!!!
We all got a tour of the first floor of the mansion and it was a blast.
The students
seemed to really enjoy themselves. We also got a freshly baked cookie
before we left
that was baked right there in the kitchen by one of the Governor’s
top chef’s. A fun time was had by all who participated.
