Target will award 5,000 Field Trip Grants of up to $800 each during the 2008-2009 school year. That adds up to 5,000 more opportunities for students to explore more of the world outside the classroom. Ready to get inspired? It’s easy — complete a TargetŪ Field Trip Grant application online anytime between now and Nov. 1, 2008.


Rewarding Schools for Engaging Students
At Best Buy we believe technology can excite and engage students, creating a more valuable educational experience. Through Best Buy Teach Awards we provide gift cards to schools so they can purchase technology for their students.

Highlights:

  • Since 2004, the Best Buy Teach Award program has awarded nearly $14 million to over 5,000 K-12 schools.
  • This year Best Buy will present awards to more than 1,300 schools
    • $2,000 Best Buy Teach Awards for up to 1,300 schools*
    • $10,000 will be awarded to up to 50 schools*
    • $100,000 will be awarded to 8 school districts*
  • K-12 public, private and parochial schools using interactive technology in classrooms are eligible to apply.
  • Schools must be within 50 miles of a Best Buy store to apply.
  • Educators must apply between July 1 and September 30.
  • The 2008 Teach Award Winners will be announced on February 18, 2008.

Quality Science and Mathematics (QSM) Grants

Great Opportunity for Public School Teachers to Enhance Science and Math Instruction! Teachers may apply for up to $750 in grant funding for Science and Math.

The 2008 QSM application system is now activated and ready for submissions. The application may be reached through the Cain Center website at www.cain.lsu.edu  and clicking on the QSM link at the top of the page or directly at www.seasystem.net/cgi-bin/qsm/  Specific instructions and guidelines are on the website. There are also pdf files of the application questions and the reader scoring sheet on the QSM site. These may be downloaded and used for reference as proposals are written.

This year’s deadline date was Friday, September 12, 2008 but the State has extended the deadline for 10 days due to Hurricane Gustav.... new deadline date, September 22.


George Lucas Educational Foundation Grant Information Page



Tool Factory and Olympus have launched a new grant program to bring digital cameras and Tool Factory software resources to special education.  10 Winners will receive an Olympus digital camera, $300 in Tool Factory software, plus an Educators Guide to Digital Photography. The application asks educators to tell the story of how they would encourage students to speak, interact, play, and learn using these resources.
