  • Teacher of the Year
    Congratulations to Ms. Theresa DeLatte for being
    chosen as Sumner High School's Teacher of the
    Year for 2013-2014! A special recognition ceremony
    will be held at the School Board meeting on April 15 at the
    Central Office in Amite. The official meeting begins at 6:00, but a
    social will begin at 5:15 to alow the opportunity for you to meet and
    greet Tangipahoa Parish School Board members and other teachers
    of the year.

    Devin King, Sumner High School

    Devin King, a senior at Sumner High School,
    isn't your ordinary high school athlete,
    he's also a nationally ranked pole vaulter
    and as Juan Kincaid of WWL-TV news found out,
    King is attempting to remain just that,
    by keeping his head down and training in seclusion.

  • Florence Cryer-Florice Smith Endowed Scholarship
     Criteria for Selection of Recipient:
    1. The scholarship will be awarded to an incoming
    freshman who graduated from Sumner High School,
    with a preference to a member of Big Creek AME Church.
    2. The student will have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5
    and meet the criteria for admission to Southeastern Louisiana University.
    3.The student must maintain an overall cumulative college GPA of 2.5
    to retain the scholarship.
    4. The scholarship has no restriction regarding major.
    5. The student may recieve this scholarship for 4 years (8 semesters)
    as long as he/she continues to meet the above criteria.

  • AAUW Scholarship
    The American Association of University Women (AAUW)
    Covington-Mandeville branch will present a $1,500 scholarship for books
    or supplies to a young woman who has a great desire to increase her education.
    The student must reside in St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, or Washington Parish
    and plan to attend Delgado Community College, Northshore Technical
    Community College, or Delta College. The awardee will be announced June 30.
