Lynn Powell's 5th grade Language Arts students are using iPAQs to type their "Tall Tales". Lynn and Reading teacher Cathy Bottolfs are working together teaching a unit on Tall Tales that is now required by the new Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum. The students are reading about Tall Tales in Mrs. Bottolfs' reading class and writing their own Tall Tale on the iPAQs in Mrs. Powell's Language class. What a great example of teacher collaboration and integration of technology!

Denise Hart's sixth graders from Loranger Middle School visited Linda Ronquillo's and Benita Jenkins' second graders at Loranger Elementary to share their iPAQ Knowledge. In Mrs. Hart's own words....

"My iPAQ experience today helped me to remember why I teach.  My son has been bugging me to bring my iPAQs to his 2nd grade class since I got them.  I have been procrastinating because I have been so busy.  I finally relented and went.  I decided to bring a group of 6th graders with me to help.  I don't know who learned more:  me, the 2nd graders, or the 6th graders!  The 2nd graders were eager to learn and the 6th graders were eager to teach.  When we were leaving everyone involved was excited.  My 6th graders were glowing because they had helped the 2nd graders learn.  The 2nd graders were glowing because they got to tap.  Mrs. Ronquillo was happy because the iPAQs were a positive learning experience for her students.  I think though in the end I was the one who benefited the most!  I remember now why I teach.  To motivate, educate, and inspire others to share the knowledge!  AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!!  The second graders used Word Seeker, Flash Math, and Sketchy."
