GRADE 3: UNIT 2, FORCES AND MOTION
|
Students examine
the effects of applied force and gravity through races and
investigations. Skill in the use of positional terms and
descriptions of motion are developed through practice. In
addition, students investigate magnetic force fields.
|
GRADE 4: UNIT 1, MEASURING AND COMPARING
|
Students develop
an understanding of the relation of force to motion as they measure and
graph time and distance data.
|
GRADE 5: UNIT 3, FORCE, MOTION, AND ENERGY
TRANSFORMATIONS
|
Students
investigate movement, speed and velocity, balanced and unbalanced
forces, gravity, air resistance, and forces in sports in activities one
through six of Unit 3.
|
GRADE 6: UNIT 3, FORCES AND MOTION
|
This unit is
designed to introduce students to the concepts of force and motion with
an emphasis identification of forces acting on objects and on Newton's
laws. Activities three through eight focus on applications of
Newton's laws of motion.
|
GRADE 8: UNIT 2, EARTH'S FORCES --MAGNETISM AND GRAVITY
|
Various natural
forces are explored. Activity 1 focuses on magnetism;
Activity 2 focuses on gravity, Activity 3 models Newton's laws of
motion, and Activity 4 addresses Newton's Universal Law of Gravitation
in relation to our solar system.
|
GRADE 9: PHYSICAL SCIENCE, UNIT 5, MATTER, FORCES, AND
MOTION
|
The
understanding of how matter, motion, and forces are related, along with
a comprehension of Newton's laws of motion and the effects of forces on
objects will be developed in greater depth. At this level, all
natural forces are examined and compared.
