Activity #1, page 25

INTRO and M – Begin by having students talk about their pets.  Then create a chart.  List the pets and have student describe where the pets live.  Explain that every animal has a habitat.

Have students look at the pictures in the book (A38-39).  Have students describe the animals’ habitats.

GP – Have students draw pictures of their homes.  Have them list what is needed in the home.  Then have a discussion on where they get the things they need.  What do they need to survive?

IP – Have students cut-out one picture of an animal in a habitat. Then  have them tell what the animal needs to survive.

Lead them into the conclusion that  animals need other animals and plants to stay alive.

Bring students together and have them talk about the animals they found and what
they listed that the animal needs.

R- Create a chart.  Have students dictate names of animals, description of habitat and what animal needs or uses to survive in the habitat.

C- Question:  Who can give me the definition of a habitat?

We need each other and we have learned that all living things need each other to survive.
