TANGIPAHOA PARISH SCHOOL SYSTEM

PROCEDURES FOR CODING TESTS

LEAP 21/GEE, iLEAP

TEST SECURITY PROCEDURES SHOULD BE FOLLOWED AT ALL TIMES!

1.  The School Test Coordinator for each test (IOWA-03, LEAP, IOWA) and/or a school administrator is responsible for facilitating, supervising, and monitoring the coding.  THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

2.  An adequate supply of #2 sharpened pencils should be available.

3.  The teachers working on each test should work in separate areas in order to prevent confusion;  however, if an extremely large space is used (cafeteria, large library, etc.) it is acceptable to code in the same room.

4.  The test booklets and/or answer documents should be separated by grade levels.  They should be placed in appropriate containers (baskets, tubs, boxes, etc.) and identified by test, subject, teacher, and grade.

5.  Coding directions should be duplicated and distributed to all teachers assisting with coding.

6.  At no time should tests be left unattended.  Materials should be collected, stored, and locked at the end of each session, as stated in the Test Security Procedures.

7.  No food or drink should be allowed on the same tables as tests.

8.  Cumulative folders or other sources of information for students (birth dates, gender, social security numbers) should be available.

9.  It is very important that coders maintain confidentiality at all times.
