Tangipahoa Alternative Programs
The mission of Tangipahoa Alternative Programs is to intervene for students who have not been successful in traditional school setting and to afford these students the opportunity to rehabilitate and/or reinforce academic achievement in a highly structured environment that meets the individual needs for a successful transition to the postsecondary setting.
Changing Lives Forever
The Tangipahoa Alternative Programs is a dropout prevention program that targets at-risk students currently enrolled in the Tangipahoa Parish School System. It is comprised of a military boot-camp program, a Connections Exit Pathways program, a STAAY program, a 9-day program, and a Summer Camp program.
Tangipahoa Alternative Programs will follow the Parish Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct outlines specific expectations of administrators, teachers, students, and parents. We are dedicated to making sure that all of our students are in school and engaged in learning. The Assertive Discipline Plan partners with district-wide implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Support to foster student achievement and behavioral support.
Every student is entitled to an education which shall be offered in an orderly, healthy atmosphere, both physical and emotional, and to firm, fair treatment in all matters pertaining to school life. Education is too important to be the sole responsibility of the schools. The success of school discipline depends upon a collaborative effort between home, school, and community. By working together we can achieve the goals we all want – safe, yet orderly schools, and a quality education for all of our children.
