Dear Parents/Guardians,

My name is Darlene Hammer. I want to take the time to introduce myself to you as the new assistant principal at Hammond Eastside Elementary Magnet. I was the assistant principal at Nesom Middle School for the 2011-2012 school year. Before becoming an assistant principal, I taught 5^thgrade at Hammond Eastside Upper for 14 years.

I am excited about having the opportunity to work with your child this year. As the assistant principal, I have many duties on campus. I also understand how important it is to communicate with the students on campus and build a relationship. I want you to know that I am very accessible to the students and parents whenever there is a concern that needs my attention.

 As an educator, I have a strong belief in all students receiving an education in a safe and productive environment that is conducive to learning. I believe that learning is a life-long process, so students need to be exposed to an environment that nurtures the highest quality of learning.
