Listed below you will find Technology classes that the TPSS Instructional Technology Department will be offering during the Summer 2003. You must pre-register for classes by sending an email to register@tangischools.org stating which classes you would like to attend. You will receive a return email message notifying you if you have been accepted. We need at least 6-8 people registered to have enough to make a class. Once that number is reached, you will receive an email confirming your registration and giving you details about the class. We are asking that you pre-register at least 48 hours in advance. If you have any questions, please contact Vicki Blackwell.

This workshop will walk teachers through the process of creating a professional portfolio. All the components of a portfolio will be addressed and teachers will make a cover,
divider pages, divider tabs, etc. for organization. 4th and 8th grade grant teachers will be provided with a 3 ring binder and divider pages. Electronic portfolio samples will be introduced.

Children's Literature Pockets" is a series of technology-based activities centered around quality children's literature. Caldecott award winning books are the basis for a wide variety of projects, scavenger hunts, and enrichment activities.Participants will leave with a handout and a CD full of ideas, patterns, activities, templates as well as a constructed Literature Pocket or two.

This workshop's aim is to build your comfort zone with digital cameras and scanners and the use of their digital images within Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Photo editing and manipulation will also be discussed. Bring to the workshop:

  • a digital camera using a 3.5 disk for memory, if you or your school have one
  • a couple of favorite photos you'd like to scan, old or new
  • two 3.5 disks.

Timeliner 5 by Tom Snyder Productions is an excellent piece of software to use to teach students the value of sequencing events in a timeline format. The newly revised edition of Timeliner 5 allows for active links to the Internet and easy insertion of graphics to accompany the timelines. The new slide show feature allows students to make multimedia presentations with sounds, movie clips, graphics, and Internet sites. What an excellent way for students to present research projects.
