Troubleshooting Tips for TangiSchools Email

If you or any of your teachers are having trouble accessing the Tangischools email from home or school, please try the following troubleshooting tips:

1. First of all, your Internet Explorer browser should be at least version 5.0. Version 5.5 or 6.0 would be even better. To find out what version of Internet Explorer a computer is using, get on the Internet and on the top Menu bar click “Help” then “About Internet Explorer.” The window that pops up will tell you what version of IE is running. If you need to download the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer just go to www.microsoft.com/downloads and download IE 6.0. This takes a long time so be prepared - Or - you can contact Carol Edwards at helpdesk@tangischools.org and get a CD with IE 6.0 on it that you can borrow to install.

2. Your email problems may be a result of a security setting within Internet Explorer.

Here’s how to fix that:

a. Get on the Internet and on the top Menu bar, click “Tools” then “Internet Options”

b. Now click the “Security” tab at the top of the window and click the “Trusted Sites” icon.

c. Click the “Sites” button and go to the bottom of that window and click to UNCHECK “Reguire server verification…”

d. In that same window at the top where it says “Add this website to the zone”, type in mail.tangischools.org

e. Now click “Add” and “OK”

f. Click the “Custom Level” button at the bottom of the Security window that you are in.

g. Scroll down to the bottom of that list and click to select “Prompt for user name and password.”

h. Now click “OK” then “Yes” then “OK” again.
