It's important
to know the "official name" of your computer when you
are using the TangiSchools HelpDesk for help with
repairs, software installations, configurations, etc.

In the bottom right hand corner
of your screen near the clock you may see this Altiris
icon
 .
(If you
don't see it, click here to install.) To find the
"official name" of your computer, double click on
and the dialog box below will pop up. |

In the middle of the box you
will find your "official" computer name. Also notice
your IP address.... sometimes the technician working on
your computer remotely MAY ask for the IP address of
your computer. It can also be found here next to
"Interface."

 On
a Windows 98 computer you can find the "official"
computer name, by right clicking on Network Neighborhood
and left clicking on "Properties." In the dialog box
that pops up, click the Identification Tab at the top
and you will see the Computer Name. |
