In the article you read for homework last night “Integrating Technology” what points were made that you feel are important to you and your students in your classroom?

Check your Tangischools email account on the Internet and Reply to the E-mail Assignment Day 2. Learn about the Junk and Spam folders inside your Inbox. Make sure you not only delete your unwanted E-mail but also to empty the Deleted Items folder.

Think - Pair - Share
Use Louisiana bookmarks as a cooperative learning grouping technique for pairing participants to discuss journal responses.
Management Strategies
Model classroom strategy for the day of rotating in and out of one computer station.  Use “I Had a Turn/ I Need a Turn” chart with clothespins for management technique. Using Print Shop, write a sentence or two in our class big book on the rotating computer about your name or nickname and where it comes from. We will make a class Big Book with your entries.
Discuss the “One Computer Classroom” (Internet) and different management techniques for addressing different needs and classroom situations.
Louisiana Map Activity in KID PIX:
TECHIE TIME with KID PIX 4 (Internet)...Demonstrate the drawing tools as being universal from one program to another for the most part. Show stamp and sticker sets.
KID PIX Exploration Time
Locate paper copy of LOUISIANA MAP (pdf) in pocket folder. Lay a piece of transparency paper over the map and with a Sharpie, trace around the map to make a “transparency.” Tape the transparency on screen of computer monitor, and use KID PIX to draw the map, using the wide line tool in Wacky Pencil. Write “Louisiana” at the top of the map. Stamp and label the capital in Baton Rouge. Project also requires your name, stickers, and stamps as well as a border. Save as LAMap in your desktop folder.

Background information for students on oral traditions and narratives through folklore.
Read orally to class “The Turtle and the Rabbit Run a Race” from Swapping Stories. Discuss moral and cultural traditions revealed in this story.
Use “Humdingers” cooperative learning technique to divide into learning teams of four people. Each learning team should use one CD and work together to read THE LIVING BOOK - THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE CD-ROM. Then discuss the likenesses and differences in the two versions of the story.

TC Lesson Plan “Naming Traditions" (Word)
We continue our discovery of Louisiana, its geography, traditions, inhabitants, and resources. We begin with the consideration of naming traditions, especially names in Louisiana. Discuss these.

Read: Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes (Internet) and discuss the Investigating My Name Interview sheet (pdf) that accompanies this book.
Identify groups of 4 in the room. Interview your partners to discover their name story and make sure everyone has entered their name story in the rotating computer.
Techie Time – Create nameplates in MICROSOFT POWERPOINT using the nameplate template (ppt) on the TangiTech CD. Demonstrate procedures.  Students create nameplates and print two copies, one for the top of their computer monitor.

Use Digital Cameras to take pictures of each other to insert into Name Poems.
