Slated for June 20-21, 2013, at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center, the inaugural Louisiana Entrepreneurship Fest: For Youth and First Time Entrepreneurs is open to all Louisiana college and university students – as well as high school juniors and seniors. 

Spearheaded by Louisiana Economic Development (LED) and the Terrebonne Parish Economic Development Authority (TEDA), the purpose of the conference is to teach attendees the basics of establishing and growing a business – allowing them to return home with comprehensive knowledge to complete a business plan.

Senior Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 8-10am at Beacon Light Church of Hammond for all seniors not taking the ACT. The meeting will begin at 8:00am, 500 E. Hanson Ave. Attendance is mandatory!  Students who are taking the ACT will meet on campus after testing.

 The Louisiana Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (LASFAA) will award at least four (4) $500 scholarships to Louisiana students who are planning to attend institutions in the state of Louisiana. 

 ·       

The student must complete the online application at http://www.lasfaa.org/docs/toc_students.html

There is only one entry per person.

·       

The Scholarship is a one (1) time non-renewable award.

·       

The Scholarship winners must be enrolled at least full-time in 2013-2014 award year.

·       

The College/University in which the student will enroll must be a member of LASFAA.

·       

The student must be enrolled in a program that leads to a college degree or certificate.

·       

The eligible recipients will be chosen by random selection.

 Deadline to submit application is

Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

The University of New Orleans invites high school applicants to visit our Lakefront campus on Friday, February 15th to complete their applications as part of a new program called Free App Fridays! Participating students must bring their official high school transcripts (in a sealed envelope) and official ACT/SAT scores with them. Admissions counselors will evaluate applications of high school seniors and provide students with an admission decision before they leave campus! In addition, students that have not already submitted their application fee will have their $20 fee waived!*

The Louisiana Folklife Center at Northwestern State University will be sponsoring the 5th annual NSU Louisiana High School Essay Contest. Students wishing to enter the contest will write a 500-1,250 word essay addressing the prompt:  "Preserving Louisiana." The essay contest is open to all Louisiana students in grades 9-12. Cash prizes and scholarships will be awarded to the winners. Southern University and A&M College is pleased to invite juniors and seniors to the Annual High School Juniors and Seniors Roundup on the Bluff. This event will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 10:00am in the F. G. Clark Activity Center. Representatives from the academic colleges, Admissions and Financial Aid, Residential Life, and Student Government Association will be present. The roundup will also include performances from  SU's marching band, cheerleaders, and greek organizations.
 
The registration fee is $25, and includes a tailgate lunch along with entrance to the Southern University vs. Alabama A&M football game. The deadline to register is November 2nd. Students can visit the Counselor's Office for registration information.

The Perry Initiative will be holding a hands-on, one-day workshop at Tulane University on Saturday, October 6, 2012, 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., for young women interested in pursuing careers in orthopaedic surgery and engineering. Thirty-six local high school women will take part in the all-day program.
