Type the problem as part of the description. Set the lesson as "private." Choose "mathematics" as the subject area. Choose "Geometry" as the sub-category. Select "save." When the lesson is in your Lesson Library, click on the email link and send it to ttmath@tangischools.org.
The area of a triangle can be found by multiplying the base by 1/2 of the height. Find the area of a triangle with a height of 20 cm and a width of 5 cm. Show all of your steps.
Mathematical Practices1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
4. Model with mathematics.
Digit Place -Students will learn the concept that each digit has its own unique place within the whole number. We will play this every day. The more you play the better you get.
Innovative Classroom Is the website where the directions for Digit Place were found. You will find some amazing things there. Take the time to check it out.

Pictures with Problems - Let's mesh writing, math and digital photography. Math is all around us. Look through your digital pictures at home or take some new pictures. What type of Math skills can you see in them. Do you see patterns? Do you see shapes? Higher order questions are all around us. Let's use digital pictures to create a poem, story, or questions that make you think mathematically. Problem Pictures The 184 full-color photographs in Mathematical World stimulate curiosity and challenge students to reflect on the mathematics at work in the world around them. A related word problem accompanies each of these striking photos and invites students to think through the exciting mathematical challenges the photographs present. Depicting a wide range of intriguing everyday objects, historical artifacts, and patterns in the natural world, the images promote visual and spatial reasoning, interest in the history of mathematics, and problem-solving skills and also encourage students to explore mathematics in their own world.
