Mrs. Mars is very proud of all her students at AEMS for all their hard work in creating the centerpieces and creating their artwork everyday!!
 Pinwheels for Peace
International Day of Peace September 21
Martha Vinyard Elementary students made pinwheels participating in the Pinwheels for Peace project in honor of International Day of Peace on September 21.  There were 708 beautiful pinwheels spinning in the wind all over the Vinyard campus. The school also had one minute of silence in observance of this special day.
Hammond Junior High students
Hammond Junior High Magnet School is pleased to announce that the following students were selected as the students of the month of September.
7th Grade- Taylor Bailey & Christopher Turner, Jr.
8th Grade- Victoria Bellanger & Hunter Babin

HJHMS is helping students develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a changing world.

Each month, one value is overemphasized in each classroom.  Teachers observe and record student interaction with the selected value through various classroom assignments and activities.  At the end of the month, teachers nominate and select students who they feel best represented that value during that month.

Students selected for September are ones who gave thoughtful consideration to their own learning and experience.  They were able to assess and understand their strengths and limitations in order to support their learning and personal development.

We would like to recognize and thank Safari Quest for being a sponsor of this event.  They gave each award recipient free game passes to their facility.  Thanks Terri!  If anyone would like to become a sponsor, please contact Mrs. Tressa Jackson at the school (985) 345-2654.
