1003g School Improvement Grant
Department of Education seal

The Tangipahoa Parish School System applied for a competitive federal School Improvement Grant and was awarded approximately $3.7 million dollars for this competitive grant . Three schools in our district received this grant funding because they have been identified for improvement, have a proficiency level in ELA and Math below the state average, have a poverty rate of 35% or higher, and are Title I eligible schools.

These schools are as follows:

  • Hammond Junior High Magnet School - $1.25 million
  • Woodland Park Elementary Magnet School - $1.25 million
  • Midway Elementary School - $1.2 million

Now that this funding has been received, it will be used at the schools to strengthen implementation of the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP) and other reform-based intervention models including the Turnaround and Transformational models.

Our district is committed to improving the academic achievement of all students. We are seeking to leverage all funds possible in order to continue to provide a world-class education to the students of Tangipahoa Parish.

We are excited about this funding opportunity as we continue our commitment to "Excellence Every Day!"
